India is a land of festivals. Each culture and region of India celebrates its own festivals with great zeal and enthusiasm. Recently Omkarananda Preparatory School celebrated some of these festivals together in the form of a Model Exhibition. Some of the most important festivals were selected for this activity. These included the Durga Puja from Bengal, Raj Joat Yatra from Garhwal, Chatth Puja from Bihar, Guruparb from Punjab, Ganesh Chaturthi from Maharashtra and Id-ul-Fitr from Islam. All these festivals were represented through various models. The kids constructed their models using waste material, thermocole, plaster of Paris, wooden powder, sand, stones, clothes and sticks etc. They themselves were beautifully attired in their cultural and regional costumes demonstrating the customs and the objects in their models. Happy faces of the parents and the gleaming eyes of the visitors undoubtedly rewarded the kids for their labor in the form of appreciation.
