It was the evening of 25th October 2009, when Omkarananda Patanjala Yoga Kendra welcomed a famous classical dancer Mandakini Trivedi. Everyone was eagerly waiting to see Mandakiniji on stage.
Swami Vishveshwaranandaji and Swami Narasimhuluji together lighted the lamp and the programme began. In honour of Mandakiniji the tiny tots of Omkarananda Preparatory School presented a beautiful prayer dance, in which Mother Earth and her children pray to God Almighty to save them from excess of rain. All were lost in ecstasy as it was a soul-elevating performance by the small budding artists.
Then Kumari Somashekhariji performed a beautiful dance dedicated to the Divine Mother.
Finally, Mandakiniji presented a ballet - the marriage of Shiva and Parvati - a journey of a woman to attain Supreme Perfection against all adversities - in three different styles of Indian Classical Dance - Bharatanatyam, Mohini Attam and Kathakali. In other words, the whole programme was a combination of three different approaches - the small budding artists, the artist in full bloom and the lavishly coloured styles of a professional artist.
